Limited Capacity filling up

We will explore an evidenced-based vision for teaching children to solve problems in Y4-Y6. We will identify the prior knowledge that will enable children to access problem-solving tasks. Then, a range of examples will be shared of how problem-solving can be introduced so children understand the mathematical structure of a task. We will also look at how challenges can be adapted and extended to deepen children’s thinking. This will enable all children to engage in meaningful problem-solving, whilst providing opportunities for children to work at greater depth.
