We will explore the principles of teaching for mastery and how his approach can help all children to build a deep, conceptual understanding of primary maths. We will look at effective differentiation within this context: how to build understanding step-by-step and how to include thought-provoking challenges. Examples will be given of how equipment, images and bar models can be used to build understanding and a range of resources will be shared for building reasoning into daily maths lessons.
